It is a form of indirect democracy where people have to vote and elect their representatives. Therefore, voting becomes a personal responsibility of the citizens. If a person does not vote, then there is a likelihood of the wrong and incompetent people being elected into office. Such incompetent people might not even make an effort to improve the lives of the people.

Voting becomes the personal responsibility of every citizen as it confirms that they are active citizens. According to Larsen (2019), voting allows every citizen to feel in control of their lives. For example, after voting, the citizen may be entitled to questioning the way the government elected functions regarding various issues or seek clarifications too. The elected government also becomes answerable to the people who elected them, the citizens.
