The Prince By niccolo machiavelli

Response Paper #2: The Prince
What you wish to include in your paper is up to you, the only stipulation is that you discuss (briefly, if you wish) the assigned book review. A response paper allows the writer creative freedom to respond how they see fit.
The following points elaborate on what a response paper should/should not entail. I have also provided a few questions to help you brainstorm about how to structure the paper.
1) Do not summarize the text. Briefly introducing the book is one thing, but this is not a book report.
2) Essentially, a response paper requires a response to the text and its significance. What is crucial when writing a response paper is to be specific (avoid general comments about how the book made you feel, such as “This part was sad.” Why was it sad? Be specific and descriptive).
3) In securing the state, to what extent should a prince be motivated by the happiness of the people?
 4) Why does Machiavelli believe that a prince must be willing to use force to achieve his ends?
4) What is the purpose of this text? Who is its target audience?
5) What was the biggest takeaway from reading this text?
6) Why does Machiavelli support his arguments by citing examples of real historical and contemporary rulers? Why does he emphasize his “long acquaintance with contemporary affairs and a continuous study of the ancient world” (p. 1)?
It is a book not a film.
