How to do an excellent presentation
The presentation should be like a strategic analysis summary but by talking about it as a professional. Please look at the appendix on how to write a strategic analysis summary for more detail, but here are the keys to a good presentation.
Content: Helps a manager better understand pitfalls and maybe better options for acting to address a strategic issue. At a minimum, helpful strategic analyses have these elements in order:
1. Clearly defines why an issue is a strategic problem/opportunity that affects competitive advantage
a. Includes the not immediately visible effects on the fit of strategy, environment, and organization
2. Identifies the mutually exclusive options that require a decision and that create a tradeoff that will affect competitive advantage.
3. Firmly states the analysts’ conclusion as to what decision to choose, and why.
Audience: Top executive with strategic responsibilities or interests in the firm. These executives are aware of general situation of firm and do not need any briefing on facts not pertinent directly to the competitive strategic issue. The paper should give insight into what is not said or easily identified, not a summary of explicit facts that these executives already know. The best strategic analyses are ones that even when the top executive disagrees with the conclusion, he or she is glad to have read it because it helped them understand the situation better.

The article, and strategic issue, you pick can be anything but there is two requirements,. First, the issue cannot be resolved before the presentation is due. The key is for students to do an analysis that would be useful for the firm, not just to report on what has already happened. Second, the firm and issue need to be one we have not covered in class or in the textbook, and so you have to do some independent research. It is not a presentation about your prior papers or the group paper.
Each individual will create a video presentation. These are the tasks for this assignment:
Post the following items to a discussion board for presentations:
a. A link to a video that is 4 to 7 minutes in length of you discussing the issue. You should not show any PowerPoint slides during the presentation; just talk.
b. Link to an article about the firm and the issue.
c. A 1 page “handout” document to supplement the video presentation. It should NOT just be a slide
or outline summarizing the presentation, but instead should be data, graphics, diagrams, etc., the
help support and explain the presentation.
I need 2 pages of Speeches (Part a&b) and 1 page of handout (Part c).
