Under blindfold have a conversation with a small group of people. Afterwards:
Discuss the importance of body language and non-verbal communication. Did you miss anything in the conversation due to visually referenced words (here, there, this, that)? How did you know who was talking?
Spend 10 minutes (seated) under blindfold in a crowded and/or noisy environment
Discuss your experience including your ability to pay attention, directionality of voices and sounds, how you initiate a conversation.
Based on both Experiences:
Discuss how a visual impairment can impact social interactions between
students. Include perspectives from both a person who is sighted and a person who is visually impaired. Include ideas for supporting students with visual impairments in this area within an inclusive setting.
